Professional Committees within our Local Section allow our members to assemble and focus on event planning for specific topics. Committees also allow members to connect with other chemists and chemical engineers in their geographic area, build leadership skills, affect change in the local community through outreach, and contribute to the public’s understanding of chemistry in the community.
Due to the geographical distance of our most active volunteer groups, the East Central Illinois Local Section has developed two separate Women Chemists Committees:
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
The East Central Illinois Women Chemists Committee at UIUC was founded in the fall of 2005 to promote the development of women in the chemical sciences. With the support of the local section and the University of Illinois Chemistry Department, they have planned events that include professional and social opportunities that benefit graduate students, faculty, staff, and undergraduates.
Eastern Illinois University
